Why This Talk
John’s Story
Teachers, coaches, and administrators are seeing it everywhere: when things get hard, students quit — the team, the play, a job, even on themselves. John knows that moment.
In 2018, John was a husband, father of three, and successful business owner — until an acoustic neuroma (brain tumor) and relentless tinnitus turned his world upside down. Two brain surgeries and years of anxiety, vertigo, and sleepless nights brought him to the edge of giving up. He didn’t. Running and his family’s support taught him how to keep moving forward when quitting felt like the only option.
Today John brings that story directly to students in “Don’t Quit in the Middle” — an honest, high-energy talk on resilience, self-talk, and human connection that helps students see their own struggles reflected back, and leaves them with a mindset to keep going.

His high energy style and interactive delivery engaged students and left them with practical, simple strategies to become more resilient.”
— Dr. James Franchini, Superintendent, Averill Park CSD
“I wholeheartedly recommend that John share his story of positivity and triumph with your students and staff. His visit to the Fonda-Fultonville Central School District was a heartfelt experience, demonstrating how positivity and movement transformed him into the man he is today.”
— Dr. Richard R. DeMallie, Superintendent, Fonda-Fultonville CSD
“John is amazing! His story motivates you and allows you to start the journey of self-improvement as soon as the presentation begins. You are hearing a message and engaging in the process at the same time.”
— David Doemel, High School Principal, Bethlehem Central School District
“John was so energetic and positive — it really kept the kids engaged. As Health Educators, his presentation aligns with our message of growth mindset, building interpersonal relationships, and finding coping mechanisms to deal with life.”
— Holly Mahon & Thomas Maldonado, Health Education, Bethlehem Central School District
“John’s message was grounded and real, and my students truly connected with him because they knew he wasn’t just talking at them. His “Heck Yea!” mindset was a memorable takeaway that resonated with both students and staff — I would highly recommend John to any school looking for an authentic, impactful speaker!”
— Zach Kuhn, Physical Education Teacher, East Greenbush Central School District
